Healthy Lifestyle

As a believer, I knew and understood that until I renewed my mind to get God’s perspective regarding my health, change would not happen.
I believe the 80/20 rule applies to our health, meaning that 80 percent of our health is mental and emotional and 20 percent is exercise and dietary. For bodily exercise profits little. 1 Timothy 4:8.
I know of many who could teach me diet and exercise, but I was looking for a better way to live. Here are a few things that got me from 220 lbs to 174lbs:
~Start always with a clean plate (be teachable, listen for the new, be open to change)
~Focus on your strengths
~Eat at home as much as possible
~Make meals and desserts from scratch
~Be wise in choosing where and what to eat when eating out
~Walk three times a week, don’t get hung up on how long
~Cut out as much sugar (cut out the starches that turn into sugar, too) however and whenever. Why? Because our teeth and stomach aches are signs that it’s not good to indulge in the sweet things (Proverbs 25:16). Know how sweet and delicious fruits and even some veggies are.
~Drink water, especially when thirsty.
~When fasting, have communion before eating anything, and choose carefully the first thing you eat.
~Your greatest weakness is eating at night. Turn the tv off, quiet time is great. Hear from the Lord. Know what’s really bothering you.
~Eat small portions. Why? If you are still hungry you can get a second helping, which is mainly out of habit or because it was delicious.
~Do not sacrifice your health for others. If you have a taste for something healthy and light, go for it.
Great advice from Rabbi Daniel Lappin: “There is no word for mood or feeling in the Lord’s language. Choose to do what is excellent whether or not you feel like it. Including eating and exercise. Eating is or should be a natural and spiritual experience. Prepare to sit and eat like a king/queen and not an animal on the go.”
If you are looking for true change, the Lord has a great plan for you. He cares about every area of your life.
