Sow The Seed
Minister Sondria McWilliams
October 2026
There is no harvest without first a seed. For us that seed is the word of God. When you make the decision to live by faith, you’re making the decision to be a sower. The word of God is an incorruptible seed, and the soil is our hearts.
I like the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. It is a story about how a seed can change someone’s life. In the original story, Jack had faith in that seed, but his mom saw it as a horrible trade for the only thing they had left, which was a cow. When the seed fell onto the ground and grew it became a huge stalk that connected Jack to what he needed to change his and his mom’s life.
Tim Tebow, a famous football player who played for the Broncos, has a beautiful story about seed time and harvest. Tim had written “John 3:16” under his eyes and 3 years later to the day there was an amazing harvest. Everything about that game against the Steelers had the number 316 associated with it. Stats included 316 passing yards, 31.6 yards per completion, 3.16 yards per rush, and a 31.6 t.v. rating. The harvest was 90,000 people Google searched “John 3:16” that day.
Every seed sown has the power to bless us with a harvest.
~ October is a great month to reap, gather, and store what has been growing. This is a season associated with abundance and joy as harvesting is the combination of months of hard work.
Notes:
Harvest - The process of gathering mature crops from the fields. The season in which the crops themselves are mature.
