As He Is…

‍ ‍Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. (I John 4:17). Although I knew that this is a scripture to be excited about, I honestly could not relate to it. I was focused on what Jesus did, and I missed who He was while in this world.

Jesus was bold, fearless and confident but most importantly, He was humble. The King of kings was referred to as, the lamb of God, over 28 times. It was His humility that saved us. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before it’s shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth. (Isaiah 53: 7b)

Everything is received through humility. Being humble is a well-spring of blessing and virtue. There are two very powerful statements written by Richard Van Winkle; “The number one spiritual law that releases every bit of God into your life is humility.” He also says, “Humility means that I believe everything that God says.” Humility is our highest blessing. Pride is our greatest enemy. God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. (James 4:6b)

This is what humility looks like for me; Giving up my right to choose who I will love, who I will serve, or who I will bless. I will love all, I will serve all, and I will bless all. Without a desire to be humble, we will not see ourselves as He is…

Be like Jesus.
